Our specialised trainings are recognised by the Swiss Confederation as well as the FEPTO (European Federation of Psychodrama and Training Organisations).
Combining inputs from J.L. Moreno and Carl R. Rogers, the Institute aims to train the students in the specific modalities (instruments, phases, techniques, etc.) of Humanistic Psychodrama.
The students will discover how to facilitate a person’s past, present and anticipated future experience and how the enactment allows treatment and the enabling of desired changes by mobilising the body as well as the psyche.
This is achieved by the externalisation in a safe environment of the internal mental process of a person.

Humanistic Psychodrama

“Show me what happened !”
J.L. Moreno, founder of Psychodrama, considered verbal and non-verbal action to be the royal path to the psyche and its activation. In his opinion, words are not enough and, on their own, can be misleading. For this reason, Moreno created a scientific way to explore and put into motion the psyche by using a method of action and interaction: psychotherapy through psychodrama.
In fact, “showing” instead of “talking about” is the main mode of exploration and development for the patient. Combining the Person-centred Approach and the Morenian Psychodrama, the humanistic psychodrama is a method using the enacting, deepening and the (re)activating of the psyche through the internal and external complexity of real, fictional and semi-fictional situations.

The reality of the patient is staged in order to

explore, get awarenesses, activate internal change and adjust attitudes and social behaviors, and
redevelop spontaneity and creativity, which Moreno considers the two pillars of health.

Since the 1930s, the use of psychodrama was developped in psychotherapy and psychiatry all over the world: in Europe (www.fepto.com), as well as in the USA, South America, Australia and Asia (www.iagp.com).

In other words, the humanistic psychodrama allows successful psychotherapeutic treatment, as to the nosography of patients, in different therapeutic environments in an autonomous and economic way.

Since the LPsy came into force, the Institute ODeF benefits from the federal provisional accreditation for postgraduate specialisation in Humanistic Oriented Psychotherapy with focus on Psychodrama (refer to Ordonnance Fédérale).
According to the Charte Suisse pour la Psychothérapie et la LPsy., this postgraduate specialisation is delivered through the i:map department of the Institute ODeF and its post-grade Psychotherapy training called ASP Integral, (Swiss Association of Psychotherapists).

Action Methods and Sociodrama: what is it?

“Action Method” and “Sociodrama” are the most common terms used to name the J.L. Moreno’s Method, when it is used for professional development. The Sociodrama mostly focuses on interaction and the development of roles.

“Rather than talk about it, show me your question, your situation, your reality or your imagination and I will accompany you towards the change you desire.”
In short, this is the message delivered by the specialist in Action Methods. Through “game” and interaction of roles, this methodology (used with groups, teams or individuals), prefers action and experience to the sole verbal expression in order to achieve the desired change.
Beyond the numerous techniques, one has to facilitate action thanks to the humanistic method of J.L. Moreno.
